2024 Public Nature Walks
Co-Sponsored by the City of Rancho Palos Verdes

Our nature walks take us through selected venues* of the Palos Verdes Nature Preserve and the George F Canyon Nature Preserve (RHE).  The entire Palos Verdes Peninsula was originally inhabited by the Tongva, later known as the Gabrielino Indians after the arrival of Spanish Missionaries. One of the Peninsula’s original settlements, Chowigna, was located near present-day Malaga Cove and existed for over 7,000 years. Los Serenos recognizes the Gabrieliño Tongva as the past, present, and future caretakers of the land, water, and cultural resources in the unceded territory of Los Angeles. We honor and respect the history of the original inhabitants and places that preceded the founding of Los Angeles and remain committed to sharing this history in our programs.

*Two (2) are wheelchair-accessible (Ocean Trails – Lakeview/Catalina; Vicente Bluffs/PVIC)

PALOS VERDES ESTATES WEATHER

Plan Your Tide Pool Visit

Tide tables and tide charts are essential for planning certain beach activities. Tide pools are best at low tide when the water level is low and the surf is typically calmer. In Southern California, there are two high and two low tides each day. Low tides occur approximately every 12 hours 25 minutes.
